Conditions AOR Says Do Not Automatically Operate as Exclusions
When a matter otherwise satisfies the requirements for a covered self-defense-related legal matter, the current agreements state that several circumstances do not, by themselves, automatically prevent representation.
- Imperfect self-defense or conduct later determined to be criminal.
- Negligent, accidental or unintentional discharge during the act of self-defense.
- Alcohol or drug impairment.
- Use of an illegal weapon.
- No weapon or use of something other than a firearm.
- An incident occurring where firearms were legally prohibited.
- A domestic relationship involving the other person.
- No concealed-carry permit or an expired permit.
- Prohibited-possessor status.
- Force that was not deadly physical force.
When Does the Self-Defense Protection Apply?
The current AOR documents identify three basic requirements for a self-defense-related legal matter.
