Attorneys On Retainer Self-Defense Legal Support

Being prepared for a self-defense incident involves more than knowing how to protect yourself. You should also consider what happens legally after the incident. Attorneys On Retainer provides members direct access to a law firm focused specifically on self-defense-related legal matters.

What Is Attorneys On Retainer?

The Attorneys On Retainer Program is administered by Attorneys For Freedom. When joining the program, members establish a client relationship with the law firm and receive access to legal services for qualifying self-defense-related matters. The program also includes membership in the AOR Association and coverage benefits provided through the Attorneys For Freedom Risk Retention Group.

Client of the Law Firm

AOR members become clients of Attorneys For Freedom and establish attorney-client confidentiality. Members also receive 24/7/365 emergency access to the legal team for qualifying self-defense-related incidents.

Nationwide Legal Representation

AOR states that legal representation is available throughout all 50 states and Washington, D.C., with local counsel associated when necessary.

Additional Coverage Benefits

The program includes additional benefits through the Attorneys For Freedom Risk Retention Group for qualifying matters, subject to the applicable agreements, policy terms and conditions.

Basic Criteria for Self-Defense Coverage

AOR currently identifies three primary criteria for receiving benefits for a self-defense-related legal matter.

You are charged, or reasonably concerned about being charged, with a felony or misdemeanor offense.

You can reasonably and in good faith assert self-defense or defense of another person as a legally sufficient defense.

The incident giving rise to the legal matter occurred entirely after you became an active AOR member.
