We teach children too.

Children are like sponges so they say and if that is true, which we believe it is, firearms safety must be taught at a young age to insure good safety habits. Zero people lock their kitchen knives away so that children cannot get them. On the other hand, most people teach their children knife safety in some way or another. Firearms are no different, take the curiosity away and teach them right in the beginning.
